Bedford County Taxes

Dozens of people addressed Bedford County supervisors during a public hearing last night. The proposed budget includes raising the real estate tax rate by 3-cents to offset a decline in property values, and giving 1.1 million dollars more to the school system. Some residents spoke against raising the tax rate while others said the school system needs the extra money it would generate. Supervisors are divided on raising the tax rate. They’re set to vote on it next Monday.
