Virginia freshman Republican Congressmen heeded warnings from Tea Party activists and other conservatives in the federal budget deal. All three freshman representatives yesterday voted against the spending deal on the House floor. Representatives Morgan Griffith, Robert Hurt and Scott Rigell were asked to oppose any agreement that conservatives said did not sufficiently cut spending and defund healthcare reform. They were joined by 56 other GOP opponents and 81 Democrats against the plan, which passed easily, 260-to-167.
