Officials: Smoke detector in fatal fire was disabled

Lynchburg fire officials say a smoke detector had been removed from the ceiling and placed in a drawer in the apartment where a couple died in a fire last week. Fire marshal Greg Wormser says other smoke detectors in the Princeton Circle West apartments were working the morning of April 18th. The blaze killed Aaron and Rachael Horton. Officials believe it was caused by an electrical malfunction.
