Redistricting Plan Awaits Governor’s Review

The General Assembly has settled on a redistricting plan.  The state Senate and House of Delegates approved the measure yesterday.  Under the revised plan, South Hampton Roads and Southwest Virginia would each lose a Senate district, while two new districts would be created in Loudon County and the Lynchburg area.  It also retains separate districts for two Virginia Beach Republican senators who were lumped together in a single district under the first proposal.  Governor Bob McDonnell has a week to review the new plan.
