Arrest Made in City Chase and Crash

Lynchburg Police say they’ve arrested the man who led them on a chase Monday night that ended in a crash.  Police say 22-year-old James Thurmond blew through a stop sign at 11th and Wise streets and when an officer tried to stop him, he fled.  Eventually, Thurmond’s car crashed a couple of times on Buchanan Street, once coming into contact with a police cruiser, before the car went down an embankment near the Kemper Street station railroad tracks.  He’s charged with hit-and-run, reckless driving and eluding police.
