A10 year old Alleghany county boy was hospitalized this weekend after being shot by his uncle while they were turkey hunting in the Boiling Spring area of the George Washington National Forest. The boy was shot from 40 yards away by a 12-gauge, and the pellets hit him from his left thigh up his shoulder. Officials from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries say the boy’s injuries are serious but not life threatening. The names of the boy and the man have not been released. Police say the uncle was properly licensed and has not been charged.
