Honest Abe Movie comes to Virginia

Steven Spielberg has chosen Virginia as the backdrop for his new movie about President Abraham Lincoln.  The director announced yesterday he decided on filming in Richmond and Petersburg, because of the area’s “rich historic legacy” and “remarkable period architecture.”  The film will star Daniel Day-Lewis as Honest Abe and Sally Field as his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln.  According to Governor Bob McDonnell’s office, the Virginia Film Office compiled an incentive package for the film, including two-point-five-million dollars in tax credits.
