Redistricting Could be Costly for the State

Virginia’s new redistricting plan could wind up costing the state five-million dollars.  Secretary Donald Palmer of the State Board of Election says the large number of split precincts in the new maps require new voting machines, signage and informational guides.  The costs add up to 25-thousand-dollars per precinct.  Under the new plan, the House has 109 split precincts, while the Senate has 115.
