Redistricting goes to Justice Department

The final nod of approval on Virginia’s legislative redistricting plan will come from the Justice Department.  Governor Bob McDonnell signed a compromise bill on Friday.  McDonnell vetoed the original bill, claiming the state Senate map too heavily favored Democrats.  The new boundaries for the Senate and House of Delegates will be reflected in this November’s election, in which all 140 seats in the Legislature are up for election.
