Roanoke Company Fined for Gas Spill in Bedford

A Roanoke company has agreed to pay a $28,000 fine stemming from a gasoline spill in Bedford County that killed hundreds of fish and other aquatic life. The Roanoke Times reports that Petroleum Marketers Inc. also will reimburse the state about $1,780 for investigative costs and restoring the fish. About 3,500 gallons of gasoline spilled onto the ground and into a tributary of Goose Creek on Oct. 14, 2010, when a Petroleum Marketers tanker truck wrecked. The spill killed fish, salamanders and crayfish.
