Officials at airport around the country including those locally have amped up security in an effort to keep people safe. Sunday is the tenth anniversary of 9/11 and a recent warning released by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security suggesting the possibly threat of small airplanes. TSA has notified airports and security operations at airports of the heightened security measures and while no specific threats were mentioned, local airports are taking all the precautions necessary to maintain a safe environment. Lynchburg Regional Airport, the School of Aeronautics at LU and Freedom Aviation are extremely security conscious and say they are adhering to the procedures and policies of the TSA and the federal government.
