Ten Commandments Display Still Getting Attention

Two groups are disputing the Giles County School Board’s claim that it’s not responsible for a Ten Commandments display at a high school. Last month, the board asked a federal judge in Roanoke to dismiss a lawsuit that seeks the display’s removal from Narrows High School. The board says a private citizen placed the display and no public money was used to pay for it. The Freedom from Religion Foundation and ACLU of Virginia filed a response Tuesday disputing the board’s claim, citing previous instances in which school system officials ordered displays to be put up and removed.
