Roadways Suffer From Heavy Rains

Yesterday’s heavy rain made some roads impassable in several areas including Amherst, Nelson, Campbell and Pittsylvania counties. VDOT had to close some area roadways because of high water and there have been numerous reports of tree limbs down blocking roadways. Some areas saw mudslides as the rains fell and storm runoff debris covered some roads. Cold temperatures and gusty winds could lead to some black ice for the morning commute and drivers should use extreme caution.
