Civil Lawsuit Filed For Flying Flags

Attorneys for the Sons of Confederate Veterans have filed a civil rights lawsuit in Roanoke federal court against the city of Lexington. The suit stems from the city’s ban on flying all flags on city property except for national, state or city flags. The attorneys are asking that a 19-year old court decision be upheld to once again allow the Sons of Confederate Veterans to fly the Confederate flag on Lee-Jackson Day. In addition, the suit cites the City of Lexington for violating the groups’ civil rights.
