Liberty University is disbanding its helicopter flight-training program this year due to low student interest and limited job opportunities for helicopter pilots. LU officials told the News and Advance, that the University will wind down helicopter training but does plan to expand its “unmanned aerial systems,” or drone program, which started this fall. Liberty launched the helicopter program in 2008 as a concentration for students majoring in aeronautics program which has more than 600 students and offers training for pilots, aircraft mechanics, flight attendants and other aviation professionals.
