North Anna Repairs Leak

One of the two units at the North Anna nuclear power plant is expected to be near full power today after repairs of a mechanical problem. The power plant in Louisa County started powering back up Tuesday after a steam line that feeds a reactor turbine began leaking on Monday. The plant operated at about 4 percent capacity while repairs were made. The leak led to the second partial shutdown power of the units since they were restarted in November after being knocked offline by a magnitude-5.8 earthquake on Aug. 23. According to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, there was no radiation leak.
