A controversial bill requiring women seeking an abortion in Virginia to have an ultrasound first is now law after it was signed yesterday by Governor Bob McDonnell. The bill does not require women to undergo the invasive version of the procedure and there’s an exemption for women who are victims of rape or incest. In a statement, McDonnell notes the passionate feelings about abortion but believes the new law combines areas of agreement. He also mentions that 23 other states have similar requirements for women who want to have an abortion.
