LU is fighting back after it was criticized on a national TV show. Comedian Bill Maher called Liberty University “not a real school” during his HBO show “Real Time” last Friday. The discussion stemmed from Republican Mitt Romney’s appearance on May 12 for graduation. According to WDBJ– students defended their school on Monday along with Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. who released a statement saying: “Liberty is the largest private, nonprofit university in America, the largest university in Virginia, and maintains more than 275 programs of study, including a fully-accredited School of Law, and a forthcoming School of Medicine”.
