” ‘Movin’ Mania” Initiative Kicked Off Today

A new initiative is taking on childhood obesity in Virginia. Hundreds of central Virginia children are taking part today of the launch of a community effort to increase awareness of the problem of childhood obesity. The Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth is partly responsible for the initiative called ‘Movin’ Mania,” It includes a rally, a dance performance and other activities at the Science Museum of Virginia. Sponsors say the initiative is designed to reach 100,000 children and families. Future activities include a 5K walk next spring.
