Trucking Industry Hopes To Put Breaks On I-95 Toll Project

An effort organized by the trucking industry is trying to pressure Virginia to abandon its plan to install tolling on Interstate 95. Three Trucking associations have launched a campaign to get the Virginia Department of Transportation to drop its proposed plan to build an I-95 toll booth. The Federal Highway Administration last fall gave VDOT preliminary approval to start a pilot tolling program along portions of I-95 to raise money for expanding highway capacity and transportation improvements. The only facility suggested so far is a site in Sussex County.
