Two Girls Attacked By Rabid Beaver

Two sisters from Spotsylvania County are recovering after being bitten by a rabid beaver at Lake Anna. The eight and eleven-year-old girls were attacked while swimming in the lake on Sunday and both girls are receiving shots for rabies. The girls’ uncle killed the animal and turned it over to the Louisa County Health Department for testing. County officials say it was only the fourth time in the past ten years that a beaver was confirmed to have rabies in Virginia.
