The community has lost the weight in the 12 tons in 2012 challenge and blew past the goal this week. Live Healthy Lynchburg tracks reported weight loss through its website, which has more than 2,200 registered users to date. During the annual State of the City address in February, Foster, then mayor, launched “Live Healthy Lynchburg,” a multi-pronged campaign aimed at helping people get active and fight obesity. Foster challenged the community to shed 24,000 pounds or 12 tons before the end of the year. www.livehealthylynchburg.com.
