The Bedford County Board of Supervisors voted yesterday to support a legal agreement and approved modifications to the original proposal outlining the process of the city of Bedford reverting to a town. Last September the board agreed to move the plan forward, with the reversion set to take place July 2013. According to the News & Advance, the plan was filed with the Virginia Commission on Local Government in March and a state panel visited Bedford in May to tour the area and receive testimony from local officials. The commission voted last month to recommend that a special three-judge panel approve the transition from city to town, which would make Bedford only the third to do so in Virginia.
