Campbell County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the discovery of a vehicle submerged in the Staunton River. The car was found by a fisherman on Tuesday nigh, about four miles upstream from Altavista. Investigators believe the Monte Carlo may have been in the river for a long time since the tags expired in 2001. So far, foul play is not suspected and the car may have just been washed into the river during heavy flooding in the area ten-years ago.
