Former Bank Manager Sentenced To Two Plus Years

A former Bank of the James branch manager was sentenced Wednesday to serve two years and nine months in prison. Sheila Marie Wright pleaded guilty in June to one count of obtaining monies under the custody and control of financial institutions by means of false and fraudulent pretenses. Wright worked as the branch manager for a Lynchburg Bank of the James from October 2000 to April 2009. According to the News & Advance, during that time, she generated fraudulent cashier’s checks in account holders’ names, cashing the checks for herself. Wright was also ordered pay nearly 365-thousand dollars in restitution.
