Phone Program Could Help Some Virginia Residents

The State Corporation Commission says the Lifeline program makes basic wire line telephone service more affordable to those who need it. The Lifeline program in Virginia has been in existence since 1988. Those who qualify are entitled to receive a minimum basic telephone service discount of $9.25 per month. Regulators say access to local emergency services and community resources is vital to all Virginians.
