Trail Celebration Planned In Nelson

Nelson County is planning an October ceremony to mark its designation as an Appalachian Trail Community. The designation is part of a program from the non-profit group responsible for management and protection of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. The program recognizes communities for their part in promoting awareness of the trail as an important local and national asset. The designation ceremony will be held Oct. 17 at 1:30 p.m. at the Nelson Center in Lovingston.
