Windstorm Cost City Over 5-Million

Lynchburg officials say FEMA estimates June’s windstorm cost the city more 5-point-3 million dollars. Most of the cost came in the immediate cleanup of tons of debris. The number also includes payment of overtime for workers. City officials also say they want to improve their response in case of another emergency event — including developing a mass communication plan for the city.
