Appomattox Murder Trial Has Been Delayed

The trial for a Spout Spring man accused of killing eight people at his home in January 2010 has been delayed. 42 year old, Christopher Speight faces capital murder charges in the deaths of his sister, her husband and his niece and nephew and attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer. A neighborhood couple, their teenage daughter and a teenage friend also died on Jan. 19 – An insanity defense is likely, but mental health experts have yet to file their reports; a trial date will be set once an evaluation is released.
