The second annual United Way Food Drive of Central Virginia is underway. According to the website items such as canned soups and vegetables, baby food, condiments, cereal, juices and hygiene items can be delivered to the United Way office in Lynchburg or contact United Way to pick up a barrel to fill it up on your own. The goal is to fill barrels full of canned goods and non-perishable items; just over 8,000 pounds of food was distributed in 2011, organizers hope to double that number this year.
