Has There Been a Compromise Reached In Appomattox?

The Times Virginia reports, the Appomattox County supervisors are willing to allow the Town to extend its limits all the way to Police Tower Road as long as those affected landowners are exempt from town taxes. This counteroffer was one of four alternative proposals issued by supervisors in an effort to find common ground with the Town to extend the sewer line. According to the article, the sewer ex?tension project is estimated to cost about $2.3 million to the Town of Appomattox taxpayers, although Council hopes to offset that cost with the new tax base.
