Meal Tax Would Pay For Campbell County Schools

Voters in Campbell County on Election Day will be deciding whether or not to approve a meals tax. The board of Supervisors voted in June, during the budget process, to request that a referendum be placed on the Nov. 6 ballot giving county residents the last word on the issue. Campbell County Administrator, David Laurell, told the Morningline today: the money is needed for the schools;that it will come down to cuts to services or expenses or increase revenue somewhere else. It’s estimated that a meals tax would generate approximately $1.3 million to $1.6 million in local revenue annually.
