October is National Adopt-A-Shelter Dog Month.

Lynchburg, Virginia – October 2, 2011 – Every October shelters across the country celebrate National Adopt-A-Shelter Dog Month in an effort to save the lives of adult dogs.   The Lynchburg Humane Society is providing an incentive for people to adopt rather than buy their next best friend.  Adult dog adoption prices will be reduced to $60, normally $75, for the entire month of October. Seniors and special needs dog’s adoption fees will range from $15-$30.   There is nothing better than coming home to a wagging tail and big brown eyes so take the time to visit and see what great dogs we have available for adoption.  All adoption specials include spay/neuter and initial shots, this is a bargain when you consider the average cost of care is $150 during a dog’s stay.   There are a few exceptions and the same adoption guidelines will apply.

“We are excited about the National Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month and we find ourselves filled to the brim with dogs,” says executive director, Makena Yarbrough. “This special will hopefully help motivate those people who are on the fence to adopt a new friend for the family.”
