A new public safety building in Madison Heights has made the priority list, at least for the time being. According to the New Era Progress, the Amherst Board of Supervisors previously delayed the process of building a new public safety building, pending more detailed information from fire and public safety officials. The plan is tentative at this point; Supervisors will need a final vote on the five-year list of all projects and then county staff members will plan project goals for the next six to 20 years. Supporters say a new structure would put all Monelison services under one roof with existing properties being utilized by the County’s Public Schools and for other county needs.
