The Sears store at River Ridge Mall will close its doors in January 2013. The store has since been bought by Liberty University, which has plans to redevelop the site. Liberty University Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. says there are two possible plans for the former Sears store. One includes turning the property into a civic center; while the second option would be designating the building to house Liberty’s online call Centers. Sears opened its River Ridge mall store in 1981. Liquidation sales will begin in early November
