Altavista Will Host Amateur World Series

The Town of Altavista will host some of the best youth baseball teams in the mid-Atlantic region next summer. Altavista Town Council last week gave its support and approved $2,500 in funds for the event. Twenty teams of players 14 and under are expected to participate in The National Amateur Baseball Federation Sophomore World Series. The event will bring teams from the area, along with players from Maryland, New York and Ohio. The tournament is scheduled July 17-21 and organizers say volunteers will be needed –visit the 2013 NABF Sophomore World Series at: www.nabf.com
