Animal Humane Groups Come Together for Adoption Event Dec. 1, 15

Lynchburg, Virginia – November 26, 2012 – He’s makin’ a list and checkin’ it twice! This holiday season make sure you’re on the nice list by supporting the Lynchburg Humane Society. New to the Home 4 the Holidays open house is the addition of other local animal groups including the Bedford Humane Society, Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, and Appomattox volunteers that have been invited by the LHS to bring their adoptable animals. They will have their own adoption policies, but by working together to find homes for as many animals as possible, a larger selection of pets, over 100 in total will be available for adopters to choose from.   Dogs, puppies, cats and kittens from the Lynchburg Humane Society will be Name Your Own Price. Join them for this special event on Saturday, December 1st and December 15th at the shelter on Naval Reserve Road, from 12-5pm.

All throughout December, the Lynchburg Humane Society is having on going specials with adoptions starting as low as $20.  All adoption prices include spay/neuter and initial sets of vaccines. Along with encouraging holiday adoptions they are also encouraging people to foster pets in need in order to reach their goal to place 200 pets in homes by the end of the year. And continuing a new program from last year called “Santa Holds”, the Lynchburg Humane Society will hold your newly adopted pet, for a small fee, so Santa can deliver them close to Christmas.

“This is the first time we have done this type of event with other humane groups from the area,” says executive director, Makena Yarbrough. “We are so excited and hope that many pets find new homes for the holiday.”

The Lynchburg Humane Society encourages gift giving to children and family members within the same household. Done thoughtfully there is no better gift than that of a new pet.  It is a good time to show off your new family member, plus the pet will bring the true holiday spirit into focus. Don’t they deserve homes for the holidays, too?

Great reasons to adopt this holiday season:

  • More time at home with your new pet
  • Pets can help reduce stress especially over the holidays
  • Less worry over spilt food and drinks, a new dog will always clean up after you
  • Unconditional love and friendship that will last a lifetime
