Board Will Keep Closer Eye On Six Schools

Campbell County School Board officials say six schools have been instructed to take initiatives to address federal targets they missed. Under annual measurable objectives which replaced No Child Left Behind, schools must meet targets in reading and math for three proficiency gap groups. Leadership committees at each school must meet monthly to monitor adequate yearly progress indicators in the measureable objectives and review each school’s status to make sure staff adheres to the tasks defined under new federal accountability requirements. The schools designated as under school improvement include Altavista, Brookneal and Rustburg elementary schools; Rustburg Middle School; and Brookville and William Campbell high schools.
