Police teams worked for hours this morning to secure the area of Forest Hills Circle in Lynchburg after a student brought a chemical bomb to the Rivermont School. Lynchburg Police evacuated the Forest Hills Circle. Dispatchers confirmed there was a bomb threat at the school earlier this morning and media outlets are now reporting that a Bomb was found inside Rivermont School in Lynchburg According to media sources, Investigators say a 14-year-old boy arrived at school with a bomb in his backpack. According to investigators, the bomb was a foot tall, but they would not discuss the chemicals or intricacy of the device. State police criminal investigators brought the bomb to a secure location away from the school. Officials say it has been defused, but would have injured students if it had exploded. The Rivermont School is an alternative school run by Centra. About 56 students were evacuated, along with nearby businesses and residents Rivermont School teaches young people ranging from 6 to 21 years old. The 14-year-old suspect is in police custody. Virginia State Police, the Lynchburg Police Department, and the Lynchburg Fire Department are all on scene.
