RUSTBURG, VA – The Campbell County Department of Social Services is accepting donations of pre-packed food boxes, wrapped gifts, cash, and gift cards to distribute to local families this holiday season.
Many Campbell County children (ages 12 and younger) are in need of holiday gifts and clothing this year. Bikes and handheld games remain the most requested toys among local children; however, any gift items donated are appreciated. Wrapped gifts must be delivered to Rustburg Baptist Church, 286 Rocky Rd., Rustburg, VA, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Monday, December 10. Please indicate when delivering gifts if the items are for boys or girls and to which age groups toys are geared. A list of items/sizes needed by clients is available by calling April Clark, Campbell County Department of Social Services program coordinator at (434) 332-9727 or by emailing april.clark@dss.virginia.gov.
For those who wish to donate food boxes, it is requested that boxes contain ham, stuffing, canned green beans, canned corn, canned yams, rolls, instant potatoes, bags of fruit and bags of potatoes, store-bought pie or cake, Jell-O, coffee, tea or a two-liter drink and paper products; home-baked items are prohibited. Food boxes must be delivered to Rustburg Baptist Church, 286 Rocky Rd., Rustburg, VA, by 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12.
