The Lynchburg Fire Department says it could save as much as 600-thousand dollars a year by changing its management structure and having employees take early retirement. According to the News and Advance, 15- employees accepted an incentive package and will retire by the end of 2012. Fire Chief Brad Ferguson said he also plans to reduce the number of captains in the department from 34 to 28.
