Firearms Sales Increase In November

Gun shops across the state are reporting record sales. November has been the best month for firearm purchases of the year– both because of the election and the holiday season. Between the election and Black Friday, the whole month provided the perfect storm for gun stores across our area. According to WDBJ-7, there were 87-thousand background checks nationally the day after Thanksgiving in 2010. That number jumped around 48-percent by 2011 to nearly 130-thousand. This past Black Friday, the number bumped up another 20 percent to around 155-thousand.
