Governor Requests Disaster Relief From Sandy

Governor McDonnell has requested federal disaster money to help 28 communities in the Commonwealth to recover from Hurricane Sandy. The storm brought high winds, heavy rains, coastal erosion and tidal flooding to the eastern part of the state and dropped significant snowfall to the west and southwest. Sandy was also blamed for three deaths in Virginia. If approved, FEMA would make funding available to reimburse state and local governments for storm-related costs.
