Homelessness Is Down In State BUT Up Locally

The rate of homelessness in Virginia has declined by eight percent since 2010. Governor McDonnell says the state has shifted some resources from traditional shelter services to moving people into permanent housing more quickly. However, the homeless population in the Lynchburg area has risen by 28 percent since 2010 according to figures collected by the Homeless and Housing Coalition of Central Virginia.
