Lynchburg’s Hydrants Of Many Colors

During the upcoming months, Lynchburg residents will see changes in the way the City’s fire hydrants are painted. According to the Department of Water Resources, the new paint schemes will help firefighters identify the type of hydrants installed throughout the City. The city developed the new color-coded to fade out those that are currently painted green . Officials say the present color blends in with grass and shrubs, which can make the water sources hard to find in the dark. Organizers need help painting all of the hydrants and are asking civic groups and individuals interested in volunteering to contact the Department of Water Resources.
