A Franklin County man is on probation after pleading guilty to a charge tied to an eleven-million-dollar Smith Mountain Lake mortgage fraud scam involving upscale homes and big losses for several banks. At a sentencing hearing in Lynchburg federal court yesterday, 45-year-old Dana Nuccio of Hardy was also ordered to perform 80 hours of community service. Nuccio admits he filed a false tax return to hide a 20-thousand-dollar payment he received to serve as a straw purchaser of one of the homes which were part of the scam.
