The Appomattox Town Boundary, Is A No Go!

The Appomattox Town Council has rejected the County’s alternative to extending the town limits. The Town first initiated a proposal in June followed by a public hearing in August. The Supervisors rejected their proposal over concerns that citizens would be double taxed; instead supervisors offered a counter proposal, hoping that the Council would accept one of its four suggestions. According to the Times-Virginian the Council could not agree to creation of a joint Public Service Authority, nor did they agree with the County’s offer to implement a permanent tax reimbursement plan on all taxes. In a letter dated Oct. 24, the Council cited tax revenue loss and stated it would pursue other projects such as the closing of the trickling filter plant.
