Virtual Tourism Of Movie Filming In Virginia

Virginia tourism officials are launching a self-guided trail and interactive site to help movie and history buffs retrace the making of the movie in “Lincoln.” The Steve Spielberg film was staged entirely in Virginia, primarily in Richmond and Petersburg. Filmmaking has become a big hit in the state and the promotion is intended to draw from that growing revenue stream. Last year, the industry’s total economic impact in Virginia was up 14.5 percent to more than $394 million. The industry also contributed nearly $60 million in state and local tax revenue.
