Injured Hiker Rescued From Petites Gap

An injured Amherst County hiker was rescued Monday after he fell onto a rock in the Petites Gap section of Rockbridge County. Authorities say the man – who is in his 40s- suffered a possible dislocated shoulder and cuts to his head. They say the steep rocky terrain made it difficult to reach him. The man was strapped into a Stokes basket and carried out of the woods by rescuers on foot.
