More Bedford County parents are speaking out against a proposed redistricting plan that would affect some 260 students at 8 schools. Nearly 100 people attended a public hearing at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School last night. The proposal would help alleviate overcrowding at Forest Elementary and New London Academy, but parents are concerned that their children will be going to schools that are much farther from their homes. School Board chairman Gary Hostutler says the board is hearing the concerns and will make changes to the plan before it becomes final.
